I love Devon, as there is always events going on that are worth a visit and with the Jubilee long weekend over we need to make plans for the August bank holiday!
One of the biggest events, set to return this August 2012 is The Tiverton Balloon Festival.
The festival will be a sensational ballooning and aerial extravaganza taking place on the 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th of August at Petroc, Tiverton Campus on Bolham Road, Tiverton.
The Festival is the largest Balloon Festival in Devon and last year raised over £10,000 for local charities, clubs and voluntary organisations.
The festival is set to be a magnificent display of colour with more than 30 balloons expected to take to the skies. In addition to mass ascents each morning and evening of the festival and interactive sessions with the balloons and their pilots
The Saturday and Sunday evenings will host a ‘Night Glow’ Display, where the balloons will ignite their burners and ‘perform’ to music. There will be plenty to do and see for families and visitors throughout the weekend, with a variety of aerial displays and free and fun activities for kids.
Throughout the weekend the Music Stage will host a great selection of local musical talent as well as performances from visual and performing arts groups.
The ‘Food Market’ and ‘Beer Tent’ will showcase the very best of Devon food and drink and there will be a wide selection of trade stands from the South West providing the very best of local crafts, handiwork, clothing, gifts and goodies.
The Tiverton Balloon Festival is a fantastic opportunity for Tiverton, the South West and the hot air ballooning community. Last year 10,000 people attended the event and this year the event is set over the four day August bank holiday weekend and as such, an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 visitors are expected
