Verity, Damien Hirst’s statue comes to Ilfracombe causing controversy

She has been called outrageous, immoral, bizarre, obscene, offensive, disgusting, grotesque, a monstrosity, of no artistic merit and demeaning to women. Damien Hirst’s bronze sculpture that stands 20.25 metres tall has made its way to Ilfracombe in North Devon. The very controversial piece, which depicts a naked pregnant woman holding a sword and clutching the scales of justice arrived last week.

After being assembled she will be the tallest statue in the United Kingdom. This means she is higher than the iconic Angel of the North Statue made by Anthony Gormley located in Gateshead, England.…
